Habitat:
Edges of sloughs in riverbottoms floodplain hardwood forest; Ulmus americana-Acer saccharinum-Fraxinus pennsylvanica v. subintegerrima community on circumneutral mineral soil of clay & silt. Assoc: Elymus virginicus, Leersia lenticularis, Carex grayi, C. tribuloides, C. typhina, Polygonum pensylvanicum, P. coccineum v. pratincola, Rumex verticillatus, Penthorum sedoides, Vitis riparia, Sium suave, Lysimachia nummularia, Stachys tenuifolia, Physostegia formosior, Cephalanthus [see label for others]. Since this is the only (or 1of2) stand of swamp forest remaining along the Baraboo R worthy of mention, & as it contains the easternmost &/or the only inland (non-WI, non-MISS R) stations of several of the spp listed above, it is certainly [see label]
