Habitat:
Semi-open spring seepage area and summer dry streamlet under Ulmus americana & Fraxinus nigra w/ Populus balsamifera, Salix bebbiana, Poa palustris, Calamagrostis canadensis, Scirpus cyperinus & Mentha arvensis. Add'l assoc: Carex arctata, C. crinita, C. retrorsa, C. tuckermanii, and C. vesicaria in close association with each other in a small area, nearly excluding other herbaceous species. Cespitose, somewhat lax in habit (esp. the leaves).
