Habitat:
Restored prairie, Sorghastrum nutans the grass dominant. Herb, 1--2 m tall; heads whitish (ivory), fading to very light green. Typically a deep-soil prairie and oak opening species, now rare in southern Wisconsin (see Cochrane & Iltis 2000, Atlas Wisconsin Prairie & Savanna Fl.).
