Latitude/Longitude was derived from the Township, Range, Section location. This causes an imprecision.
A dry area adjacent to a lake. [This specimen appears to be H. divaricatus, or at least approaches that species more closely than any other Wis. plant I've seen to date. In Melchert's treatment (1960) of Helianthaea, H. divaricatus was ignored, but in Heiser et al.'s monograph (1966) and in the usual regional manuals, it is definately or implicitly reported from our state. Its affinities are obviously with H. strumosus, from which it is separated by no very fundamental characters. The species is well known directly to the south in NE Illinois. Petioles 3, not 2 mm long, stems glaucous- TSC] Plant about 1.5m high.
