Habitat: Large virgin wet-mesic prairie (25 acres), quite flat w/ seasonally flooded shallow depressions, surrounded by ag lands on all sides. Soil: dark colored loam with sandy clayey loam subsoil and a large amount of organic matter. Assoc.: Sphenopholis intermedia, Koeleria macrantha, Lysimachia quadriflora, Geum aleppicum var. strictum, Rosa arkansana var. suffulta (abundant), Zizia aptera, Z. aurea, Pycnanthemum virginianum, Asclepias sullivantii, Galium oboreale ssp. septentrionalis, Rudbeckia hirta var. pulcherimma, Silphium laciniatum, S. terebinthinaceum.
