Habitat: In high, very rocky prairie dominating in transition zone from oak woods to prairie, in the latter with Andropogon ger., Sorghastrum nutans, Amorpha canescens, Lespedeza capitata, Liatris aspera, Coreopsis palmata, Apocynum andros. Many dead branches, some very nearly touching ground. Very rare.
