Wet-mesic prairie with much of the flora (at least in this area) composed of species from the fen; grass sod; Andropogon gerardii dominant, with Poa pratensis, Agrostis gigantea, Spartina pectinata, L. americanus, Pentaphylloides floribunda,. Asclepias incarnata, Pycnanthemum virginianum, Aster lanceolatus, Eupatorium maculatum, Solidago gigantea, and S. riddellii. Wis. DNR Habitat Preservation Area, recovering agricultural land that has been in public ownership for ca. 50 years, grazed before then, burned this spring for the first time in many decades.
