Plant stout, branched & ascending, 1-3ft high; stems square, faintly puberelent, with conspicicuous tufts of longer hair at the nodes. Lower leaves broadly ovate with almost truncate base, palmately 3-lobed, lobes prominently incised, upper leaves (floral) becoming lanceolate with cuneate bases and merely 3-toothed
