Black oak (Quercus velutina) barrens. Soil loose and sandy, covered by mosses and lichens. Assoc: Agrostis scabra, Carex pennsylvanica, C. foenica, Potentilla argentea, Lespedeza capitata, Euphorbia corollata, Helianthemum canadense, Heterotheca villosa, Erigeron strigosus, etc. Sheet 1 of 2. Shrub approx. 15" tall and 3' across.
