Habitat:
In degraded prairie on N side of cemetery. The soil rich but sandy. With Rhus glabra, Verbena stricta, Physalis heterophylla, Monarda fistulosa, M. punctata, but mostly with Poa and non-prairie plants. Commom. With several erect stems from woody rootstock, the stems unbranched below. Flowers cream-colored with dark pink markings.
