Habitat:
More or less dry upper edge. Narrow band of souther mesic forest (Quercus borealis dominant, w/ Tilia americana, Prunus serotina, Juglans nigra, Betula papyrifera) on gentle slope between old sandy field and creek bottom cat-tail marsh. Assoc.:. Equisetum arvense, Circaea lutetiana ssp. canadensis, Parthenocissus quinquefolia and P. inserta. Rare here (generally common in southern 2/3rds of Wis.).
