Habitat:
With 3 others of this species (2 more have blown down in last decade) on otherwise unwooded S-facing pasture slope, former prairie area. Tree 12m. tall, 35cm. in diameter. Bark in large, hard plates which become loose at the ends. Leaves with 5 leaflets (never more), but sometimes with only 3 leaflets in part of twig near fruits. Fruits 1-3 together, [See label].
