Habitat: Dry prairie 1/2 up steep WNW-facing hillside. Thin silt loam soil over dolomite (Ordovician) bedrock. Assoc. Poa pratensis dom, Helianthus occidentalis most common herb, with Sisyrinchium albidum, Carex richardsonii, Potentilla simplex, Castilleja coccina, Lithospermum canescens, Juniperus virginiana, Crataegus, Prunus virginiana and Cornus racemosa.
