Habitat:
Growing in a reconstructed prairie with many species reported to have been transplanted there from other prairies. Growing with Polygala senega, Phlox pilosa, Silphium terebinthinaceum, S. laciniatum, Castilleja sp., Lilium sp., and Thalictrum sp. Old planting records from this prairie say that Calopogon was planted in abundance from 1948-1951, obtained from a prairie "marsh" about 5 mi. S of Sauk City, T9N, R6E, Sect. 23.
