Habitat: Large open pit for extracting alluvial gravel and sand, with some crushed limestone gravel brought in from bluff quarry across the road. Dry and weedy, with few shrubs or trees. Solanum caroliniense, Polanisia dodecandra, Bromus japonicus,. Monarda punctata, much Melilotus alba, Elymus canadensis. Petals yellow with red spots at base. Anthers dark red-brown.
