Habitat: Slightly elevated, forested area, under Acer saccharum, Quercus borealis, Ulmus rubra, Tilia. With Thalictrum dioicum, Anemone sp., Parthenocissus. Surrounded by wet, disturbed meadows dominated by Phalaris, with Stachys palustris, Asclepias incarnata,. Salix sp. On slight edge of wooded rise in floodplain. BER. 20-100 small, cespitose clumps, many connected by wiry (not arching) stolons. Leaves lax. Perigynia hispid, becoming golden with age. In dense shade.
