Habitat: Lake shore. Slightly shaded red sandstone shelves; rooted in crevices with mosses and liverworts, no mineral soil evident. With Onoclea sensibilis, Deschampsia cespitosa var. glauca, Coptis groenlandica, Solidago graminifolia, little else. Also. somewhat developed soil at interface of sandstone ledges and forest; rooted in mossy cushions on sandstone; semi-shaded. With Carex communis, Lycopodium annotinum, Acer rubrum seedlings, Physocarpus opulifolius, Spiraea alba, Diervilla lonicera, little BER. Else; right at edge of forest.
