Habitat: Steep, gravelly, calcareous riverbank. Semi-open gravel with scattered white cedars; with Carex eburnea (dominant), Shepherdia canadensis (common), and Lithospermum canescens (rare, dwarfed). Other rare plants in the area; Iris lacustis (common on. Michigan side), Juniperus communis (near bridge on Wisconsin side). BER2004. Locally common. In full flower.
