Habitat: Steep, N-facing slope, side of crumbling sandstone mound; open sandy rocky soil supporting xeric prairie w/ no particular species dominant & scattered Pinus banksiana & Populus tremuloides saplings invading from above. Assoc.: Peltigera sp., Cladonia spp some mosses. Additional Data: Open stony ground, the soil between the rocks pure sand. Assoc.: Andropogon scoparius, Festuca rubra, Elymus canadensis, Koelaria macrantha, Anemone cylindrica, Potentilla arguta, Ceanothus americanus (rare), Saponaria
