Habitat: Edges of sloughs in riverbottom floodplain hardwood forest. Ulmus americana-Acer saccharinum-Fraxinus pennsylvanica var. subintegerrima community on circum-neutral mineral soil of clay and silt. With Carex grayi, and Elymus virginicus. Leersia lenticularis, Carex grayi, C. Lupulina, C. lupuliformis, C. muskingumensis, C. tribuliodes, C. typhina, Polygonum pensylvanicum, P. coccineum var. pratincola, Rumex verticillatus, Penthorum sedoides, Vitis riparia, Sium suave, Lysimachia nummularia, Stachys tenuifolia, Physostegia formosior, Cephalanthus occidentalis, Aster ontarionis, and Boltonia asteroides var. recognita.
