Quercus woods edge, in half shade-half sun. Rich damp soil. Common. Tall stout herb from tuberous root. Leaves triangular-hastate, doubly toothed. Phyllaries greenish-yellow, rather scarious. Flowers whitish or cream colored. Pappus chestnut brown.
