Habitat: Along the riverbanks and also extending into the old field. Old field, once dominated by Ulmus americana; mowed, never pastured or plowed. Soil: glacial silt loam, humic gley at 2.5 feet; pH 6.8. Associated with Phalaris arundinacea,. Aster novae-angliae, Sonchus sp. Central area not on floodplain. [Mixed collection of Fraxinus nigra [v0022311WIS] and Fraxinus pennsylvanica [v0139268WIS]]
