Habitat: Medium-good stand of dry prairie on a 5-acre outcrop of St. Peter Sandstone rising 40-50 ft. above surrounding terrain, sandy slopes at base and sides. Species present on Monticello Rock outcrop: Selaginella rupestris, Andropogon gerardii, A. scoparius, Talinum rugospermum, Aronia melanocarpa, P. pumila, Amorpha canescens,Tephrosia virginiana, Euphorbia corollata, Celastrus scandens, Parthenocissus inserta, Hypericum gentianoides, Hedeoma hispidum, A rtemisia campestris ssp. caudata.
