Habitat: Shallow peat over fine sand subsoil; collected plants of Carex folliculata rooted in sphagnum in swale-like margin of boggy woods, assoc.: Osmunda cinnamomea and extremely robust clumps of Carex echinata; C. folliculata also locally abundant in a swath. slightly higher up along bottom of road bank, assoc. Scirpus cyperinus, Calamagrostis canadensis. BER.
