Habitat: Mesic prairie following S-and most SE-facing side of low ridge, along lower edge near road, where soil probably deeper, assoc. with Anemone cylindrica, Aster ericoides, A. sericerus, Carex bicknellii, Coreopsis palmata, Euphorbia corollata,. Eryngium yuccifolium (locally common), Poa pratensis, Ratibita pinnata, Rudbeckia hirta, Silphium integrifolium, Solidago canadensis, and S. speciosa. Very rare, 2 plants having been observed on the whole prairie
