Habitat: Southern mesic forest (Acer saccharum dom., w/ (in decreasing order of importance) Tilia americana, Quercus borealis, Ostrya virginiana, Ulmus rubra, Fraxinus americana, Carya cordiformis), with carpets of spring flowers and canopy trees of medium age.. Good quality 60-acre stand over late Cambrian (not quartzite) formations. Dry roadside with almost all naturalized weeds (bromus inermis, Daucus carota, Hypericum perforatum, Melilotus alba) plus one or two prairie natives with weedy tendencies.
