Habitat: Southern upland forest varying from dry-mesic (upper slopes) to mesic (middle & lower slopes), the dominant trees changing from place to place within the contiguous area with respect to relative importance values; compositional transitions also apparent. to the relic stand of northern mesic, hemlock-dominated forest. Steep N-facing slopes w/ low cliffs and conglomerate boulders overlying (Upper Cambrian) Galesville Sandstone. Southern mesic forest below hemlock relic (Acer saccharum - 1 dominant with Betula papyrifera - 2 dom., B. alleghaniensis - 3 dom.) on more or less E-facing slope just above floodplain
