Cold spring-fed calcareous (?) seepage bogs and meadows in wet Thuja occidentalis-Populus spp., Acer spp. woods, on N-facing slope. Wet open sedge meadows, springs and streamsides, seepage bog in Thuja woods. With Mertensia paniculata,. Carex flava flava, C. leptalea, C. aurea, C. stipata, C. interior, Equisetum scirpoides, E. arvense boreale, E. sylvaticum, Chrysosplenium americanum, Ribes lacustre, Smilacina trifolia, Stellaria calycantha isophylla, Rhamnus alnifolius, Caltha palustris, Veronica americana, Chelone glabra, Habenaria spp., etc.Very small flowers. These appear more the small flowered bright greenish-yellow type with the two lateral petals(sepals) appressed to the sides, or at least pointing downward
