Habitat: Semi-open forest edge along banks. Many large boulders throughout the area. Conifer-Hardwoods with Hemlock, White Pine, Fir, White Cedar, Sugar & Red Maple, Yellow Birch. Immediate Associates include: Taxus canadensis, Streptopus roseus, Lonicera. canadensis, Sambucus pubens, Dentaria diphylla, Botrychium virginianum, Carex ssp., Aster macrophylla, Dirca palustris, Laportea canadensis, etc... Flowers light green.
