Habitat: Rich forest of Acer saccharum, Tilia americana underlain by an extensive population of Taxus canadensis; steep N-facing river bluff with sandstone cliffs below limestone cliffs above. Assoc.: Staphylea trifoliata, Caulophyllum thalictroides, Dirca. palustris, Aralia nudicaulis, Cypripedium calceolus, Trillium flexipes, Rhus radicans, Mitella diphylla, Asarum canadense, Polemonium reptans, Thalictrum diocium, Geranium maculatum, Hydrophyllum viriginianum, Sanguinaria canadensis, Carex sprengelii, Adiantum pedatum.
