Habitat: SSW-facing dry prairie on steep slope w/ wind-eroded sandstone outcrops below, dolomite boulders above, & limestone cobble over the surface. Assoc.: Apocynum cannabinum, Castilleja coccinea, Carex richardsonii, Celastrus scandens, Comandra umbellata, Helianthus occidentalis, Lithospermum canescens, Ratibida pinnata, Monarda fistulosa, Physocarpus opulifolius, Silphium laciniatum, Solidago speciosa, & Scizachyrium scoparium.
Occurrence Remarks: Abundant. Smaller northern spine of the southern of the two prairies.
