Locality: United States, Wisconsin, Dane, S edge of Black Earth-Rettemund Prairie above Fesenfeld Rd., NW corner of jct. Fesenfeld Rd. with CTH KP, 1.1 mi. (airline distance) due W of Black Earth
Verbatim Coordinates: T08N R06E sec27 SE4NW4;
Habitat: Lower edge of mowed lane bordering dry-mesic upland prairie, densely growing Bromus inermis dominant, with Medicago sativa, Silene latifolia, & Trifolium pratense, nothing else.
Occurrence Remarks: One clump only, of 6 stems. Repeatedly, I have seen one to few clumps of Carex gravida alongside but not within our Wisconsin prairie remnants, as if the plants had blown in from farther west and were reaching out, trying to gain their natural habitat. Perigynia 4.3--4.7 X 2.0--2.4 mm.
