Habitat: Pastured slope near top of hill, edge of thin woods and open pasture, with much invasion of Lonicera tatarica, L. morrowii and hybrids (L. x bella) and more recent invasion of L. maackii.
Occurrence Remarks: Shrub with several stems in a tight clump, 4 m. tall, the stems to 8 cm. in diameter; heartwood brown; bark shallowly furrowed and slightly flaky. Corolla white, beginning to bloom and a few of the older flowers seen to be fading to light yellow; anthers yellow. Voucher for wood specimen, MADw.
