Habitat: Quercus macrocarpa savanna, middle of top of NE-SW-trending ridge, long since overgrown and turned into southern dry forest with a mixture of Juniperus virginiana and young deciduous tree spp. (Celtis, Prunus serotina, Quercus velutina, Tilia, Ulmus), saplings (Carya cordiformis), and shrubs (Zanthoxylum americanum). Assoc.: Actaea rubra, Agrimonia sp., Anemone virginiana, Desmodium glutinosum, Dioscorea villosa, Menispermum canadense, Parthenocissus inserta, Phryma leptostachya,Polygonatum biflorum, Smilax hispida, Toxicodendron rydbergii, & Symphyotrichum shortii.
Occurrence Remarks: Six plants in a little strip 1.8 X 0.6 m, two more plants 7 m. away to the west.
