Habitat:
Pine Barren in sand prairie with scattered small trees and low shrubs. Growing with Quercus macrophylla, Q. rubra, Achillea millefolium, Andropogon gerardii, Apocynum androsaemifolium, Carex pensylvanica, Heucherea richardsonii, Liatris aspera, Solidago nemoralis, etc.
