Habitat:
SSW-facing dry prairie on crest of dolomite-capped sandstone ridge. Assoc.: Amorpha canescens, Apocynum androsaemifolium, Coreopsis palmata, Euphorbia corollata, Lithospermum canescens, Monarda fistulosa, Scutellaria leonardii, Symphyotrichum ericoides, Symphyotrichum oolentangiense, Viola pedatifida, & Viola sororia (one clump nearby on prairie, frequency in surrounding woods not noted). No Viola pedata seen.
Occurrence Remarks:
One healthy clump 12 inches across, w/ ca. 62 flrs. (photo, B.A.C.). Ten yds. into the prairie from the edge of dry open Quercus-Betula papyrifera woods. Smaller northern spine of the southern of the two prairies.
