Habitat: Bank of cold-water streamlet through cool moist Tilia americana-Acer rubrum woods; under Fraxinus nigra-Hamamelis virginiana understory with rich groundlayer of Carex prasina, Cryptotaenia canadensis, Floerkia proserpinacoides, Galium triflorum, Hydrophyllum virginianum, Laportea canadensis, Osmorhiza longistylis, Poa (alsodes?), Sanicula gregaria, Symphoricarpos foetidus, and Symphyotrichum prenanthoides.
