Habitat: Pine Barren in sand prairie with scattered small trees and low shrubs. Growing with Populus tremuloides, Prunus serotina, Comptonia peregrina, Rubus flagellaris, Andropogon gerardii, Symphyotrichum laevis, etc. Part of large depression in the sand area.
