Habitat: Most often found on calcareous sites, including the thin soils of Door Co. and other eastern WI sites underlain by dolomite. It is also prominent in swamps where it may be the dominant species.
Occurrence Remarks: Ranges from Ontaria & NE MN to Nova Scotia, S through WI to NE IL, MICH & NY and at scattered locations as far S as NC in the Appalachians. In WI it is most common in the N half of state & farther S in the E along Lake Michigan.
