Habitat: Mucky to firm bottoms in 0-1 meter of water. Common assoc.: (Nuphar variegata) spatterdock, (Nymphaea odorata) white water lily, (Pontederia cordata) pickerelweed, (Schoenoplectus subterminalis) water bulrush, (Utricularia purpurea) large purple bladderwort, (Brasenia schreberi) watershield.
Occurrence Remarks: Common to abundant; especially on the east shoreline where it forms dense reed beds in late summer.
