Habitat: Muck bottom in 0-2 meters where it forms dense canopies with other floating leaf species. Common assoc.: (Nuphar variegata) spatterdock, (Eleodea canadensis), (Brasenia schreberi) watershield, common waterweed [belongs with Eleodea], (Potamogeton robbinsii) Robbins (fern) pondweed.
Occurrence Remarks: Common in all four lakes in calm water bays.
