Habitat:
Northern Dry Mesic Forest with a substantial amount of Pinus resinosa planted by students. The canopy of the school forest consists mostly of Pinus resinosa, Pinus strobus, Quercus rubra, Acer rubrum, and Fraxinus americana. The shrub layer consists of Corylus cornuta, Vaccinium angustifolium, and Gaultheia procumbens. Maianthemum canadense is common, but the majority of the ground layer is taken up by Pteridium aquilinum.
