Habitat: Wet sand edge along the flowage near the water fringe; pine forest stand upland with jack and red pines (Pinus banksiana, Pinus resinosa) and some oak (Quercus spp.)- also some white birch (Betula papyrifera) and quaking aspen (Populus tremuloides); understory shrubs: hazelnuts (Corylus spp.); common herbs: bracken fern (Pteridium aquilinium) and big-leaf aster (Aster macrophyllus).
