Habitat: Common in shallow water and on recently-exposed mucky shore of shallow excavation pool. Pool borders extensive, disturbed Typha wetlands. Mucky, sulphurous, organic substrate. Full sun. With Typha latifolia, Brasenia schreberi, and Potamogeton natans.
