Habitat: In mixed stands with reed canary grass and cattails. Prefers thick muck soil in and out of water <0.5 meters. Primarily found on shore in undeveloped low areas; especially near river inlet. Common assoc: (Phalaris arundinacea) reed canary grass,
Occurrence Remarks: Scattered locations on lake where it forms dense cover.
