Habitat: Common associates include bog species such as Kalmia polifolia, Andromeda glaucophylla, and Ledum groenlandicum.
Occurrence Remarks: A common plant of bog areas. Spikelet solitary or few in small cluster. Flower with parianth of numerous hairs, these are greatly elongated in the fruit.
