Locality:
United States, Wisconsin, Dane, Lodi Marsh State Natural Area, SW of Center Bluff, between (N of) Lee Rd. & (S of) CTH Y, less than 1 mi. S of Columbia Co. line, 3.3 mi. (airline) due SW of Lodi
Habitat:
Southern sedge meadow, very wet but no standing water and 0% shrub cover. Atop Carex stricta tussocks; assoc.: Aster novae-angliae, Eupatorium maculatum, Impatiens capensis. 4 plants adjacent to Middleton's long-term study plot 16, ca. 20 additional plants interspersed in the openings of the shrub border with forests of Center Bluff.
Occurrence Remarks:
Under public ownership since the 1960s, previously relatively ungrazed by cattle because of inaccessibility. Site burned annually until the early 1940s, every few years since 1998, including late winter 2007.
