Habitat: Locally common on crest of slope in steep rolling topography in pine barrens with few large trees. Barrens dominated by Pteridium aquilinum, Corylus americana, Comptonia peregrina, Salix humilis, Prunus spp.; Sand.
Associated Species: Prunus serotina, Corylus americana, Liatris ligulistylis, Pinus banksiana, Andropogon gerardii, Solidago spp.
