Extensive prairie, flat, sandy soil, upland and not marshy, former farm fields converted to a prairie dominated by Andropogon gerardii, but without other native warm-season prairie grasses and only a small number of native prairie species, but with no weedy species. Abundant Persicaria coccinea (!), and scattered Solidago nemoralis, S. speciosa, Hieracium longipilum.
Rare, scattered plants, none very large, with characteristic "burnt sugar" odor.
