Habitat:
Old pasture, mostly open and with native species of rich or wet soil (Silphium perfoliatum. Heracleum lanatum), becoming overgrown with Salix exigua, S. eriocephala, Rhus glabra.
Occurrence Remarks:
[Sheet 1 of 2]; More or less tight patch of stems to 2.5 m. tall. Stem purple, the lower 1/4 with leaves dead and dropped. Leaves opposite in lower 1/3, then alternate on stem and into inflorescence. Rays and disc yellow, a clearer and slightly lighter yellow than Helianthus tuberosus (Nee 66261).
